Overview
Giving Foundation for Children (GFC) is seeking a Campus Engagement Intern to help research and design practical ways college students can participate in GFC’s child-focused mission beyond formal internships and Fellowships.
Not every student can commit to a structured internship. This role focuses on understanding how students may be able to participate through existing student organizations, service groups, Greek organizations, honors societies, cultural groups, academic clubs, and other student-led communities.
Responsibilities
- Research how students participate in service, volunteering, and community-focused activities through student organizations and groups.
- Study different ways students can contribute to nonprofit work without becoming formal interns or Fellows.
- Compare participation models such as service projects, volunteer activities, group-based projects, and other forms of student involvement.
- Research policies and practices that may affect how outside nonprofits can appropriately work with student groups.
- Build a prioritized list of participation models GFC could explore.
- Prepare research notes, recommendations, and simple implementation ideas.
- Recommend one practical, low-risk student participation model GFC could test first.
Example projects
Research several ways students could participate in GFC through existing student groups and organizations, compare the practical requirements and limitations, and recommend the simplest model GFC should test first.
Who this is for
A curious, dependable student who understands student life, communicates professionally, and enjoys researching how people and organizations can participate in meaningful community work.
Experience with student organizations, volunteering, service groups, Greek life, student leadership, event planning, or community engagement is helpful but not required.
What you'll learn
- Practical experience in nonprofit community engagement, stakeholder research, student engagement, program development, professional communication, and project planning.
Commitment
Remote, approximately 10 hours per week. This is an unpaid internship-style volunteer opportunity with Giving Foundation for Children Inc.
The role is focused on research, planning, and participation design. Students are not expected to sell products, solicit donations, or independently promote GFC on school property. Any in-person activity connected to a college or university would occur only with appropriate institutional and GFC approval.
Students seeking academic credit or another university requirement should confirm eligibility with their institution.
Academic credit, CPT/OPT approval, recommendations, and future employment are not guaranteed.
