Supports structured research into grant opportunities that may align with GFC Programs, initiatives, and organizational needs.

Accepting applications

Overview

GFC evaluates potential funding opportunities carefully before deciding whether to pursue them. A Grant Research Intern may help identify credible opportunities, document source requirements, and give leadership clear information for review without assuming eligibility or funding.

Responsibilities

  • Research foundation, corporate, and public grant opportunities from reliable sources
  • Document eligibility, focus areas, deadlines, required materials, and restrictions
  • Compare potential opportunities with current GFC Programs and priorities
  • Maintain organized research notes, source records, and follow-up questions
  • Flag unclear requirements or missing information for leadership review

Example projects

Depending on current GFC priorities, examples could include: Preparing a sourced brief on grant opportunities related to books and literacy Building a deadline and eligibility tracker for leadership review Comparing several potential opportunities against documented Program needs

Who this is for

A careful researcher who can distinguish verified requirements from assumptions, organize source material clearly, and communicate open questions. Strong reading, writing, attention to detail, and follow-through matter more than prior grant experience.

What you'll learn

  • You’ll have opportunities to develop practical grant-research, source-evaluation, and nonprofit funding-analysis skills through direct GFC review and feedback. Depending on the assignment, completed research briefs or sanitized opportunity analyses may provide portfolio-ready examples.

Commitment

This is currently an unpaid volunteer / internship-style opportunity with Giving Foundation for Children Inc. Exact schedule, participation dates, university requirements, and any approved variations are confirmed individually with GFC. Academic credit, CPT/OPT approval, recommendations, and future employment are not guaranteed.
