Overview
GFC organizes child-focused work through long-term Programs and focused initiatives. A Program Coordination Intern may help keep priorities, activities, documentation, and next steps visible so leadership and contributors can coordinate effectively.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Program and initiative status, actions, owners, and deadlines
- Organize source materials, meeting notes, decisions, and open questions
- Support coordination between related projects and contributor assignments
- Prepare concise progress summaries and follow-up lists for review
- Identify blockers, missing information, and dependencies requiring attention
Example projects
Depending on current GFC priorities, examples could include:
Preparing a coordinated status view for a books-and-literacy initiative
Organizing Program decisions, evidence needs, and next actions
Drafting a weekly progress summary from approved project records
Who this is for
A dependable coordinator with strong organization, clear writing, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through. Comfort working across multiple related activities matters more than prior nonprofit program experience.
What you'll learn
- You’ll have opportunities to gain practical nonprofit program-coordination experience, strengthen status and dependency management, and improve documentation through direct GFC review and feedback. Sanitized plans or reporting tools may support a portfolio.
Commitment
This is currently an unpaid volunteer / internship-style opportunity with Giving Foundation for Children Inc. Exact schedule, participation dates, university requirements, and any approved variations are confirmed individually with GFC.
Academic credit, CPT/OPT approval, recommendations, and future employment are not guaranteed.
