Overview
GFC coordinates nonprofit work through Programs, initiatives, campaigns, and contributor assignments. A Project Management Intern may help translate approved priorities into clear plans and maintain the information needed to keep work visible and moving.
Responsibilities
- Draft and maintain project briefs, milestones, owners, and target dates
- Track dependencies, blockers, risks, decisions, and next actions
- Prepare concise status updates and follow-up lists
- Support handoffs between contributors working on related activities
- Keep project records current and flag inconsistencies or missing information
Example projects
Depending on current GFC priorities, examples could include:
Building a milestone plan for an approved literacy initiative
Organizing project blockers, decisions, and handoffs into a weekly status view
Reviewing an active project record for missing ownership or dependencies
Who this is for
A dependable and organized contributor with clear communication, attention to detail, and willingness to follow up respectfully. Familiarity with project tools is useful, but consistent judgment and follow-through matter more than certification.
What you'll learn
- You’ll have opportunities to gain hands-on nonprofit project-management experience, strengthen planning and status communication, and improve work through direct GFC review and feedback. Sanitized briefs, plans, or reporting frameworks may support a portfolio.
Commitment
This is currently an unpaid volunteer / internship-style opportunity with Giving Foundation for Children Inc. Exact schedule, participation dates, university requirements, and any approved variations are confirmed individually with GFC.
Academic credit, CPT/OPT approval, recommendations, and future employment are not guaranteed.
