Accepting applications

Overview

GFC needs clear, responsible content that helps audiences understand its Programs and current work without overstating partnerships or impact. A Social Media & Content Intern may help plan and draft channel-appropriate content using approved sources and review workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Draft social posts and short-form content from approved GFC information
  • Maintain editorial calendars, content statuses, and review notes
  • Adapt Program or campaign updates for different communication channels
  • Organize source material and verify that claims are supported before review
  • Track content follow-ups and incorporate editorial feedback consistently

Example projects

Depending on current GFC priorities, examples could include: Building a four-week draft content calendar around approved literacy themes Adapting a reviewed campaign update into several channel-specific drafts Auditing planned posts for source support, privacy, and consistent terminology

Who this is for

A dependable writer with good judgment, attention to detail, familiarity with social platforms, and willingness to revise work carefully. A warm, child-focused nonprofit tone matters more than a large personal following.

What you'll learn

  • You’ll have opportunities to strengthen nonprofit content planning, channel adaptation, editorial workflow, and source-based storytelling through direct GFC review and feedback. Approved content plans or sanitized examples may support a portfolio.

Commitment

This is currently an unpaid volunteer / internship-style opportunity with Giving Foundation for Children Inc. Exact schedule, participation dates, university requirements, and any approved variations are confirmed individually with GFC. Academic credit, CPT/OPT approval, recommendations, and future employment are not guaranteed.
